About Howard

(Welsh & English) Mathematics and Further Maths tutor for KS3, GCSE, and A-Level

Blaenau Ffestiniog, Gwynedd  Â·  Online Lessons

Hi, my name's Howard, a fully qualified secondary mathematics teacher with a Mathematics degree and a PGCE from the University of Birmingham. I teach KS3, GCSE, and A-level Maths (including further mathematics), and I have particular experience in supporting students who feel “stuck” or anxious about their subject knowledge, within a few weeks you'll be solving questions independently and actually enjoying it.

My teaching style is calm, structured, and step-by-step. I break difficult topics into small, manageable pieces by using clear explanations, diagrams, and lots of guided practice. I don’t rush students and I make sure they truly understand the why, not just the how in mathematics. Lessons are interactive through an "I do, we do, you do" method by demonstrating a worked example, going through examples together, and then you try questions with my guided support.

I use verbal questioning to spike interest, use extensive exam-style questions, and provide quick feedback such that you can see progress after every session. As a classroom teacher, I’m very familiar with exam boards (Edexcel, WJEC) and what examiners are looking for. I focus on improving you exam technique, how to avoid common mistakes, and where to pick up easy marks.

I also offer lessons through the medium of Welsh or bilingual, if required. If you’re looking for a friendly, patient tutor who explains maths clearly and helps you feel confident, I’d love to help.
